Eymard Toldedo
Children's books author and illustrator Eymard Toledo has created enchanting stories about children and animals eager to explore and be part of the world they see around them. She finds inspiration in the culture of her native land Brazil. In her book 'The Best Tailor in Pinbauê' Eymard tells the story of a young boy who wants to help his uncle, a skillful tailor in the city of Pinbauê, to bring back customers to his atelier who left after the opening of a big clothing factory in town. The characters in Eymard stories want to find ways to help keep what they perceive as best in that environment they live. The twin sisters in the book 'Juju und JoJo' live in a very big city, and where very tall buildings squeezed against each other make them turn their heads all the way up in order to see the sky. But 'Juju und Jojo' also see something right in front of their house: the Jabuticaba tree that their father planted for them and that keeps growing and blooming. Eymard's books have been published in Europe, Brazil, US and Canada and are available in German, English, Portuguese, and French in bookstores and online stores. Her additional books include 'Bené Schneller als das schnelleste Huhn', ' Es schläft ein kleiner Pinguin', and 'Es tanzt ein kleiner Pinguin'. Eymard Toledo has been awarded the Deutsch Akademie für Kinder und Jugendliteratur prize for her work. She lives currently in Germany and works also as graphic designer.
